Creating agility in the telecommunication area
Never has there been a driver so obvious as there is for NFV - Network Functions Virtualization (Virtualisation for our Australian friends). In a world who has pleased many hardware providers with the concept of "carrier grade, turn key systems" it seems that
- Solutions can become a lot more available (or should we say higher available)
- Deployment times can be drastically shortened
- Operations can be a lot more fun (and a lot cheaper)
- it's time to clean up the data centre...
Over the last years, virtualization has become a commodity across IT solutions, the time has come to disrupt the way on how core network functions are deployed. enough with problem causing clusters of high performing energy consumers, it is time to benefit from the smarts discovered by the likes of Facebook and Google and change traditional telecommunication models.
